About me
I'm David Michal, a programmer from Velký Šenov in the Czech Republic. I build custom applications for organizations and founders, and in my own time I build products, developer tools, and games, some of which you can see on the Work page.
I care about software that fits the way people actually work, and about changes that don't break what already runs.
In my day job I work mainly on the backend and on DevOps. On custom projects I work full stack, from the database and server to the user interface.
How a project starts
- You write to me. A short description of the problem is enough.
- We talk it through. We clarify the problem, who will use the software, your constraints, and what a good result looks like.
- We agree on the first step. That may be the full project, a smaller discovery and prototype, or an assessment of your existing application.
If the project isn't a good fit for me, I'll say so.
Working with me
- Limited capacity. I take on a small number of projects alongside my full-time work.
- Availability is discussed after your first message. I don't publish start dates; we agree them once the scope is clear.
- Every project is assessed individually. I consider the scope, risks, and terms before I accept work, and I only take on work I'm allowed to deliver under Czech and EU law.
Have a problem that off-the-shelf software doesn't solve?
Tell me what you need. We'll start with the problem, not the technology.
